How to make term 2 suck a little less

Let's face it. Term 2 absolutely sucks. In term 1, you're ready for the year ahead. Term 3, you're revising and the end is in sight. But term 2 is just the absolutely worst. The weather is still cold (although I love winter much more than summer), nothing is new any more and you have a whole load of important things that need doing. Seriously, who has time for that. So here are a few things that make it suck a little less and make it the best term!

Join a new society

If you've got a refreshers fair coming up, take a look around. It is never too late to get involved with a society. Why not try salsa, or pole dancing? Or join a film appreciation or writing society? Make sure it is something that you may not have the chance to do once you finish university. You can make loads of new friends and find a new hobby.

Spend some of that student loan or christmas money on some new things for your bedroom. A funky candle or some new bedding can brighten up any room. Plus, it's fun to have a move around of things.

So maybe things didn't go to plan in first term, procrastination gets in the way and you ended up doing an all nighter to get your work done? Maybe your wardrobe is looking a little sloppy. Have a clear out and organise your life!

Explore somewhere new

Agree with your flatmates and all take a day off from stressful university life and explore the local area. I still haven't visited loads of towns around my university and I really want to before I leave. Just jump on a train or bus and see where it takes you!

If a university society doesn't tickle your fancy, why not find some volunteer work. Not only does it look great on your CV, but it is also just a great thing to do. Not only do charity shops need volunteers, but also theatres and youth groups. Get to meet some new people in the area and have fun whilst doing it.

What are you doing this term to beat the blues?

  1. These are great tips. I'm finishing off my last exams now and after that term 2 starts. Not looking forward to it at all, but I have just signed up for a photography course and hopefully that will make it suck less.

    Love, Eline

  2. These are really great tips. I actually love term 2 because it's at the point where I'm comfortable and really let my social life rule my schedule. For some reason, by term 2 everything makes sense. I'd definitely say going out, exploring and seeing new things is the way to go with second semester. You're not going to be at university forever!
